Who We Are
Tom Carter, Director
Tom is a Director and Principal Landscape Architect at Tasman Carter, bringing over 25 years of experience to the table. A Registered Landscape Architect and Ministry for the Environment–certified Hearings Commissioner, Tom combines strong technical expertise with a creative, people-focused approach.
With an honours degree in Landscape Architecture and further study in applied psychology, Tom brings a unique perspective to his work—balancing thoughtful design with a deep understanding of how people connect with place. He’s regularly called on to present expert evidence at council and Environment Court hearings, trusted for his clarity, insight, and integrity.
Tom is known for his creative thinking, attention to detail, and commitment to designing landscapes that feel authentic and enduring. Whether he’s working with private clients or public agencies, he helps shape spaces that invite connection, spark interaction, and support renewal.
